Robert Michael "Bob" Stanwell was educated at Boston Grammar School (1954-61).

Bob attended Park Board Primary and Boston Grammar School, and excelled at all sports playing football and cricket for the Old Bostonians teams.

After passing his A-levels at 17, he was too young to go to University even though he was awarded a place at Sheffield University. He worked for a year at Boston’s Inland Revenue office before enrolling at Sheffield University where he obtaining degrees in Economics and German with French in his final year.

Bob married Joy in 1972 after meeting at a flower power party, and moved to Leeds where Bob worked for Burtons the Tailors, later moving to Allied Breweries at Burton-on-Trent. After Allied Breweries Bob formed his own Management Company and did contract work for several large companies including a number of years at Rover in Birmingham before taking a job at Derby City Council and then finally retiring to enjoy playing golf and bridge (card game).

Bob was a devoted family man and loved all manner of family events and celebrations and was a keen supporter of Boston United and Derbyshire County Cricket Club. Bob and Joy had two children (Laura & Matthew), and Bob loved being grandad and great grandad to Sophie and Hugo.
