Albert Ernest Lucas was born on 20th May 1897. he attended Boston Grammar School from 1911 to 1913. when he left he went to work for Albert Cheer, the clothier in West Street. In May 1916 he joined the Army and three months later was sent to France and soon saw action. He was twice wounded in 1917 and was killed in battle on 23rd March 1918, aged 20.

He was reported missing and for some time it was hoped that he had been taken prisoner, but this was proved not to be so. If found, his body was never identified.
