Cameron Quilter Knowles was educated at Boston Grammar School.
Knowles was the son of John Mason Knowles of 22 Skirbeck Road, Boston. He won the Parry Gold Medal in 1879.
He was admitted sizar at Trinity College, Cambridge in 1881, gaining a BA in 1884, was ordained deacon in 1887 and priest in 1888. He gained his MA in 1900.
He went on to be curate at Hampton in Middlesex from 1887 to 1892, curate of St Augustine's at Edgbaston from 1892 to 1893, rector of Melton Constable with Burgh Parva and vicar of Briston in Norfolk from 1893 to 1906, curate of Milverton in Somerset from 1906 to 1918, curate of St James's, Pokesdown and St Andrew's, Boscombe in Hampshire from 1918 to 1924. He subsequently resided in Bournemouth and died in 1937 in Elham, Kent.
