Hugh Cecil Ward was educated at Boston Grammar School.

Cecil died last summer in Pilgrim Hospital, at the age of 80. He was born at Holland Fen and, apart from war service, lived there all his life.
When war broke out in 1939, he joined the Royal Navy, and served for five and a half years, mainly on convoy duty in the Atlantic.
He worked for several years in the business of millers and bakers in Holland Fen. After the death of his father, he joined the civil service, working for the Ministry of Defence until his retirement.
He leaves his wife Mollie, daughter Diane. son Geoff, 3 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Another son, Richard, died some years ago.
The funeral service at All Saints' Church, Holland Fen, was followed by cremation at Boston.
