Dennis Henry Bettison entered Boston Grammar School in September 1923 when he was only 8 1/2 years old, and left in 1931. He joined the merchant navy and served throughout the war. In 1945 he was taken ill and invalided out, returning to his home in Boston. In 1946 his condition worsened and he was taken into hospital and died there. His name was recorded in the Imperial War Dead Civilian List.
