Obituary

Obituary written by his son, Gerard Budge (BGS 1980-87)

Derek Budge died unexpectedly on Wednesday 25th December 2019, at the age of 76 within days of suffering a stroke and associated brain haemorrhage.

Derek, a long-time supporter of the Old Bostonian Association, attended Boston Grammar School and went on to Manchester University Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) to study Mathematics. He left to work with the family owned firm of building contractors, F.Budge Limited owned by his late father Frederick. The company worked extensively in the Boston area in both the public and private sectors until Derek retired from construction in the late '90s.

He had a long association with Boston Rifle Club and in his retirement enjoyed walking when not enjoying working in his garden.

Derek leaves his wife, Carol, their daughter Ann, son Gerard (BGS 1980-1987) and their four grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Lukas and Mattis.

Derek’s elder brother A.F. (Tony) Budge (BGS 1951-55) and younger brother Richard J. Budge (BGS 1958-65) both pre-deceased him.
