Derek died in July at his home in Sutterton at the age of 71. He was born in Boston and lived most of his life in Kirton.

He attended BGS from 1940 to 1945 and subsequently joined the OBA.

He was an enthusiastic member of the Kirton Tennis Club and Kirton Fishing Club.

Derek was a widower and ieaves two sons Simon and Christopher, daughters Ann and Jane and grandchildren Ben and Bethany.

The funeral service at Boston Crematorium was conducted by the Rev Harry Hall.
