Obituary

Herbert, a retired farmer and market gardener died in Pilgrim Hospital at the age of 78. Born in Langrick, he lived in Brothertoft and Boston all his life.
He served in the army during the Second World War and amongst other engagements, fought at Nijmegen. After the war, he started farming at Brothertoft and later at Halstead Hall, Stixwould, When he retired from farming, he took up market gardening, specialising in cut flowers and other greenhouse crops.
His funeral was at Boston Crematorium, conducted by Canon Brian Osboume.
