Obituary
By his brother Tony Drew with additions from the obituary published in the February 1999 issue of The Old Bostonian
My brother, Herbert passed his 11-Plus at Kirton School and commenced Secondary Education at BGS in 1948. He passed his School Certificate in 1953 and immediately joined Brush at Loughborough as a trainee draughtsman. With the exception of two years' National Service in the Royal Army Education Corps (served mainly in Gibraltar), he was employed by Brush for the whole of his working life, advancing to head one of their drawing offices, dealing mainly with Traction Motors (and always pointing out with pride the Brush Type 32 locos on British Rail). He also represented Brush at numerous trade delegations due to his fluent Spanish. He married Monolita, a Spanish lady who he married in Gibraltar in about 1960, during his national service. They had one daughter, who today teaches at Leicester University.
He was always active and was quite a useful sportsman, playing soccer (in goal) for Loughborough Town in his younger days, he played competitive table tennis and enjoyed, even to the end, competitive cycling.
The funeral service was held in Isla Cristina, Huelva on 13th August 1998, followed by interment in the local cemetery.
