Ian Bruce Constable was a teacher of Modern Languages at Boston Grammar School from 1972 to 1977.
He spent the academic year 1976-77 in France as an exchange with Bernard Barbaroux.
After BGS
From 1978 to 1990 he was Head of Modern Languages at Tring School, Hertfordshire.
He gained an MSc in Computer Science from the Hatfield Polytechnic in 1991.
From 1991 to 2003 he was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences of De Montfort University.
From 2003 to 2008 he was a Visiting Lecturer at De Montfort University, an Associate Lecturer of the Open University and a Research Assistant for the University of Bedfordshire Business School.
In 2020, in time for lockdown, he purchased an English concertina to learn from scratch, and currently (2025) can be found at Farmers' Markets, local pubs and folk festivals in a silly hat, a patchwork waistcoat and the band for a Morris side.
