John Colam was educated at Boston Grammar School.

John died in Dover on 22nd November 1997. Born in Boston, he was educated at Staniland School, Carlton Road School, and BGS.

He was a builder and, for several years, traded with Jim Faunt as Faunt and Colam. They built bungalows in the Freiston and Fishtoft area.

In 1967, he joined the Prison Service and served at Parkhurst on the Isle of Wight, Daventry and Dover Castle. He instructed prisoners in bricklaying.

In 1953 he married Audrey Mould, daughter of Fred Mould, the High Street baker. When he lived in Boston, he was a Sergeant in the Territorial Army.

He was buried in Dover on 1st December. He is survived by his wife Audrey, two daughters and two granddaughters.
