A brilliant young Boston science student died on Monday in St Stephen's Hospital, London, after being involved in an accident while riding his motor cycle in the Chelsea area last Thursday. He was 19-year-old John David Lowe, elder son of Mr and Mrs JD Lowe, of 48, Carlton Road, Boston.
John was at the Grammar School for seven years and was under-officer in the school's Army Cadet Force unit in charge of the Signals Section. He was also a keen ballroom dancer and held a bronze medal for this.
A member of the Boston Parish Church, he also belonged to St James; Friday Badminton Club.
His parents came to Boston from Nottingham about ten years ago.
Collision with car
An inquest was opened at Hammersmith, London, on Monday, when evidence was given that John was riding a motor cycle in King's Road, Chelsea, and was involved in a collision with a car at the junction of Beaufort Street.
Formal evidence of identification was given at the inquest by Mr John Dennis Lowe, his father, who said his son's London address was Altenburg Gardens, Battersea.
The Coroner, Mr G Thurston, adjourned the inquest until November 28th, for further enquiries.
The funeral will take place to-day (Friday) at the Parish Church, followed by interment at Boston cemetery.
