Laurence Henry Tonks was a teacher of Mathematics at Boston Grammar School (1942-1950). In 1943 he was granted a commission in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (Training Branch) and became Adjutant of the BGS ATC Squadron
In 1950 Tonks left BGS following conviction for an offence involving Royal British Legion cash.
