Neville Raymond Charlton was born 23rd February 1937, at 78 Freiston Road, Boston.
He attended Staniland and Tower Road primary schools, before attending Boston Grammar School from 1948 to 1953.
After leaving school he worked in his grandfather’s fishmongers, until called up for National Service. He was stationed at RAF Wythall outside Wolverhampton, and it was during this time that he developed his life long support for Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.
Upon returning to Boston he went to work for Holland County Council in the Children’s Department, which later evolved into social services under Lincolnshire County Council, where he remained until retirement in 1997
From 1958 he was a regular participant for Boston Grammar School Old Boys football team. He also completed the sea bank marathon several times.
In 1962 he married Rita Squires at the Centenary, Boston, and they went on to have two sons, Howard and Nick.
His hobbies included canary breeding, and in later life record collecting.
He passed away on the 3rd March 2024 after a battle with dementia. He is survived by his wife, his sons and and his five grandchildren.
