Former Bostonian Edward Cartwright (Ted) has died at Bulli Hospital in New South Wales, Australia, at the age of 78.
He was the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs George Cartwright, bakers and grocers of Duke Street, Boston. He leaves his wife Fay, son Aleric, daughters Alethea and Helen. five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers Dick and John, and sister Ann.
Mr Cartwnght was educated at Staniland School and BGS. On leaving school in 1937 he joined the Royal Navy and took part in the Arctic Convoys to Russia and also in the Mediterranean, for which he received the Russian Star and the Malta Cross campaign medals On leaving the Navy he was employed as power station superintendent at Copeton, New South Wales.
Mr Cartwnght was a free mason at his home town lodge at Kiama, New South Wales.
