From the February 1998 issue of The Old Bostonian
Tom died in August last, in Pilgrim Hospital, at the age of 74. He was born in Boston, and lived in the town all his life - apart from his war service.
After leaving BGS, he started to train as an accountant, but was soon to enter the RAF for the duration of the war, serving in the UK and India.
He then joined the family business of William Kent Memorials Ltd (est 1810), and then took over on the death of his father.
As a Borough Councillor, he represented Witham Ward for many years. He was a former secretary of Boston Squadron ATC, had been a member of Boston Round Table and was a former Rotarian.
He always maintained close contact with Boston Grammar School and the OBA, and served the interests of both for many years. He was a School and Foundation Governor and a committee member and Vice President of the OBA.
His funeral service at St Botolph's, Boston, was followed by burial at Boston Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, son, Captain William Kent, daughter, Mrs Katherine Arch and his sister, Joy Hensman.
