Some people are surprised to learn that Boston Grammar School’s main winter sport is football (soccer). The stereotype of a grammar school is one which plays mainly rugby.

The featured image on this post is of the Boston Grammar School 1st XI football team of 1938-39. Frank Ryan, the player who is holding the ball, is currently (26 October 2020) the oldest known member of the Old Bostonian Association.
