Cecil died last summer in Pilgrim Hospital, at the age of 80. He was born at Holland Fen and, apart from war service, lived there all his life.

While at BGS, he took a major interest in sport. He played football for the School First Eleven and later for the [[Old Bostonian Association|OBA]]<ref>[[Old Bostonian Football Team 1936-37]]</ref>. He played bowls for Holland Fen and was chosen for the Lincs County Team.

When war broke out in 1939, lie joined the Royal Navy, and served for five and a half years, mainly on convoy duty in the Atlantic.

He worked for several years in the business of millers and bakers in Holland Fen. After the death of his father, he joined the civil service, working for the Ministry of Defence until his retirement.

He leaves his wife Mollie, daughter Diane. son Geoff, 3 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Another son, Richard, died some years ago.

The funeral service at All Saints' Church, Holland Fen, was followed by cremation at Boston.
