'''Ken Cridland''' was educated at [[Boston Grammar School]] (1961-1968).

At BGS he was a prefect and a Staff Sergeant in the [[CCF]]. He achieved 9 'O' Levels and 4 'A' Levels, gaining a place at [[Wikipedia:University of Manchester|Manchester University]] to study Electrical Engineering though he was awarded a Physics BSc in 1972.

Ken went on to teach Physics including as Head of Physics at [[Wikipedia:Lytham St Annes High School|Lytham St Annes High School]] (1984-2012). From 1999 Ken was Division Secretary for the Lancashire Division of the [[Wikipedia:National Union of Teachers|National Union of Teachers]]. In retirement he continued as Assistant Secretary for the [[Wikipedia:Borough of Fylde|Fylde]] NUT.

He was Chairman of protest group Blackpool Against the Cuts which was founded in 2010 from left-wing and trades union concerns over job losses and vital social services cuts under coalition and Conservative government austerity.
