			Rev Richard T "Dick" Westland died in 2022.

			Dick's primary education was at Park Board School and St Nicholas School before moving to BGS in 1939. Having not shone at school he classified himself as a late developer.

			His first job was as an apprentice at Ruston-Hornsby before leaving for National Service in the army. He returned to Boston to work at Fogarty and became a department manager in textiles, going on to be involved in production control and later with retail knitting machines. This led to his opening a shop in West Street, Boston.

			He married Pat Hull in 1954 and became a diocesan Lay Reader in 1960. From 1983 he trained for ordination, becoming first Deacon and later Priest. In 1993 Dick retired at the age of 70 having been the Chaplain at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital. He continued to serve the church as a retired priest, helping out at St Nicholas, Skirbeck until his deteriorating health prevented him from continuing.
