The pavilion was officially opened in May 1960 by the Chairman of Governors, William Lawson Alexander.
This building has primarily been associated with sport, containing two changing rooms, a small set of shower units and lavatories. It looks onto the school field and forms the backdrop to many photographs of football and cricket teams.
For some time, at least in the 1970s and 1980s, the pavilion was used for the teaching of music.
Other rooms in the pavilion have previously been used to store equipment and to house the school tuck shop.
The pavilion underwent a renovation around 2011.
