Hubert Turpin was a teacher of history at Boston Grammar School for 37 years (1927-64).

In 1955, to help commemorate the quater-centenary of the school's charter being granted, he wrote a short booklet entitled "Boston Grammar School - A Short History". This was updated in 1966.
