Welcome to the Old Bostonian Association Wiki

This Wiki is affiliated to the Old Bostonian Association: the alumni association of Boston Grammar School, Boston, England. The association is for former students and staff of the school, but this Wiki is for anyone with an interest in the school. You can find out more about the association on its web site.

Code of practice

The OBA Wiki subscribes to the MediaWiki and Wikipedia principle of "be bold", meaning that you should feel free to edit or create any article which you genuinely believe to be relevant to the wiki. Nevertheless, we will deal appropriately with any any user account created for the express purpose of posting only irrelevant information.

Legitimate subscribers to the wiki have nothing to fear. If you start by making uncontroversial edits on the Wiki, or by setting up your "User:" page to describe yourself and your connection with Boston Grammar School, you can later start to be a bit more edgy and controversial. Any inappropriate edits may still be questioned, or even reverted, but indefinite blocking is unlikely unless your behaviour is extreme.

In an attempt to reduce the quantity of spam a number of measures have been taken. For example, when creating an account, and in certain other circumstances you will be asked to complete a CAPTCHA. This shouldn't cause you too much inconvenience but if it does please let us know. You can contact us at webmaster@bostonian.org.uk.

If you want to do some editing

If you are willing to help make this wiki more useful, here are some things you might consider doing (you will need to create a user account and be logged-in):

  • Write something about yourself on your home page
  • Add some names to faces in the Photo Album
  • Write a new article on a relevant subject, especially one of these missing articles (ignore the articles listed which begin with "Template:")
  • Correct any factual errors, spelling or grammatical mistakes you find in an existing article, or simply add some more information
  • Improve one of the articles tagged as needing work

What would you like to see?

We realise that it's all very well inviting you to add content to the wiki but you probably don't have access to all the material you would like to see, or at least you may not have the basic information required to start an article, even if you would like to add your own contribution to it.

If there is an article you would like to see started on the wiki but you don't have the information or courage to start it, then post a comment on the discussion page for this Main Page.
