Freaky Friday formed When Vehicle Derek was offered a gig supporting UK hardcore legends Sink and new label-mates Goober Patrol in Norwich on 1st April 1990 and were unable to commit due to members being unavailable. Not wanting to miss out on the show, Vehicle Derek members Del Howes and Andy Sandall recruited friends to form a band at short notice the Friday before they were committed to perform. The band practised on Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday morning then rushed to play their one and only performance that afternoon at the Jacquard Club in Norwich. The set consisted of primarily cover versions of various US Wikipedia:Straight edge hardcore bands, and a few reworked Latch songs.
