Frederick "Fred" Cyril Mowbray was educated at Boston Grammar School (1930s).
Obituary

Fred Mowbray of Frampton died in April in Pilgrim Hospital at the age of 81, after a long illness.
Born in Boston, apart from six and a half years in the army during the Second World War, he had lived locally all his life. He left BGS in the late 30's and went to work for Joseph Rank Ltd at their High Street office, After his war service, he returned to the same firm, which later became known as Rank Hovis McDougall, where he stayed for 40 years as a sales representative.
He was called up in 1939 and served in the Royal Artillery in France and was in the evacuation from Dunkirk. He rose to the rank of sergeant and later was commissioned as an officer in Kensington Regiment, attached to the Middlesex Regiment. He was back in France with the invasion forces on D Day + 1 and saw action through to Germany.
When he returned to Boston, he was very soon a keen member of the Old Bostonian Assooation and became its social secretary. He became a founder and secretary of the Boston Area Bakers' Association and a founder member of the Boston Dunkirk Veterans' Association.
A keen bowler, he was a past president of Boston Bowling Club and also a member of Kirton Bowls Club and the Boston Indoor Bowls Club.
He leaves wife Marjorie, Sons Alan and Barry, daughter Gillian, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral service took place at St Mary's Church, Frampton, followed by cremation.
