The Medlock Scholarship is awarded for high academic achievement, and is named after BGS alumnus Len Medlock. In order to be eligible, students must achieve three or more grade As at A Level (excluding General Studies) and be entering Higher Education.

Funded by The Medlock Charitable Trust, the first scholarships were awarded at the end of the 2001-2002 academic year. They have since been awarded annually, typically to 3 - 4 high achieving students completing the Upper Sixth.

In 2012 each scholarship provided £1,100 per year towards university costs for the first three years of a degree course. Applicants may re-apply for one further year if they are continuing an undergraduate course.
