While George S Bagley was not born in Boston he lived there for over fifty years, working as a journalist for forty of them. As he recorded events of local importance over that time he developed an interest in the towns past.
After retiring from full-time journalism he wrote a series of articles, entitled Lindis, for the Lincolnshire Standard Group, which focused on local history. He was author of the first comprehensive history of Boston Grammar School, entitled Floreat Bostona. He went on to write Boston, its Story and People, which covered the history of Boston. He was also for some time editor of The Old Bostonian.
George Bagley served as chairman of the Property Committee of Boston Preservation Trust.
