The Gnomes was a band formed from wholly or mainly students of Boston Grammar School
According to Tim Stanlidand: "They were named, I believe, after Gnational Gnome Week... I don't really know what GGW was but I believe it was started in remembrance of a BGS boy that died in a motorbike accident. I seem to remember stories of gnomes being kidnapped from gardens all over Boston with notes left saying that the owners could collect them on a certain day from the High School. On that day many cars turned up to collect their gnomes which had been placed all over the grounds and buildings of the High School. I can't be the only person to remember this, but it was 6th formers that did it and I would have been 2nd/3rd year at the time so not sure exactly what happened."
