While George S Bagley was not born in Boston he lived there for over fifty years, working as a journalist for forty of them. As he recorded events of local importance over that time he developed an interest in the town's past.

After retiring from full-time journalism he wrote a series of articles, entitled 'Lindis', for the Lincolnshire Standard Group, which focused on local history.
