Ken W Andrews was educated at Boston Grammar School where he won the Parry Gold Medal in 1935. He went on to study metallurgy at Manchester University where he gained a BSc with first class honours. He was also awarded a University Prize and a grant from the Department of Industrial and Scientific Research for research work at Oxford University.
His younger brother Doug Andrews also won the Parry Gold Medal, in 1936.
