William Gannock has Boston Grammar School's Gannock (red) house named after him. He was Mayor of Boston in 1567 (when the school was built on its current site) and in 1578. His name is referenced in the Latin inscription positioned above the north door of Big School.
His will is dated 4 July 1583 and was proved 25 March 1591-2.[1]
