Violence

In 1972 the Boston Standard published this report.

"Violence was claimed to be on the increase at Boston Grammar School and those who got away with it unpunished became heroes, so said the new issue of the school magazine The Bostonian. The editorial said the school should adapt its role to meet society's new standards of tolerance and permissiveness, and added: 'Far better to bend a little than encourage a complete breakdown.'"

Headmaster Mr P. F. Johnston said the word violence was 'exaggerated'.
