Alan Howard was appointed to teach art and woodwork at Boston Grammar School in 1901, following the death of his father, George T Vernon Howard who had been Drawing master since 1861. He remained at the school until his retirement in 1937.
Howard had been a student at Boston Grammar School, entering the school in 1888. He served in the Royal Flying Corps in the First World war.
