Richard Hamer was a teacher at Boston Grammar School.

Hamer married Clara Louisa, one of headmaster George Edwin Pattenden's daughters.

After BGS

Curate of Yiewsley, Middlesex (1875); Silk Willoughby, Lincolnshire (1876); Knipton, Leicestershire (1876-1881); Vicar of Granby Nottinghamshire (1881-after 1891).

Clara died in 1903 and he married Anna Margaret Kemp Turner in 1909.

Hamer died on 29 April 1922 at Lonsdale, Craneswater Park, Southsea, Hampshire.
