John Meaburn Staniland "Jack" attended Boston Grammar School, and went on to be a solicitor.

Jack became a Major in the Lincolnshire Regiment, 4th Battalion (service number 44251). He died on active service on 30 June 1944, aged 33, and is buried at Saint Manvieu war cemetery, Cheux.
