John Meaburn Staniland "Jack" attended Boston Grammar School, and went on to be a solicitor.
Jack became a Major in the Lincolnshire Regiment, 4th Battalion (service number 44251).
He was involved in the Norwegian campaign. Although they faced terrible conditions and experienced many hardships, all BGS Old Boys involved returned home safely. Captain Staniland was injured in the campaign.
He died on active service on 30 June 1944, aged 33, and is buried at Saint Manvieu war cemetery, Cheux.
