Richard Slator was educated at Boston Grammar School.
After the death of William White in 1912, the school advertised for a new headmaster. One of the 178 applicants was Richard Slator (aged 39) who was second master at Ipswich School. He had examined BGS on a number of occasions. The successful candidate was James William Dyson.
