This notice appeared in the Cambridge Chronicle and Journal of 19 June 1802. It is believed to refer to a predecessor to the Speech Day or Prize Giving events of later years.

Boston School Meeting

The Young Gentlemen educated under the care of Rev. John Banks, B.D. and the Rev. John Gaunt, M.A. at Boston Grammar School, will deliver their speeches at half past eleven o'clock on Thursday the 24th June. There will be a dinner for the Ladies and Gentlemen in the Town-Hall, and a Ball and Card Assembly, as usual. Those who intend to favor this meeting with their company to dinner, are requested to send their names, as early as convenient, to Mr. Borkwood, of the Three Crowns, or to the Printing-Offices, where they may receive Tickets for the Dinner, and also for the Ball.
