Diary entries

From the diary of Ian Wood

Ian hadn't done drill before, hence his lack of skill. He remembers Sgt Fearon spending time with him, one-on-one, to get him to an acceptable level. "A" Flight went on to win the drill competition.

"A" Flight

Sgt Fearon

  • Tent 1 – Cpl Guthrie, Davis, Haygarth
  • Tent 2- Cpl Godbolt, Hodgett, Tunstall
  • Tent 3- Wood, Everson, Illman

Sunday

Arrived and made beds. The weather was very poor and earlier in the morning there had been 20mm hailstones. Did a walkabout exercise which consisted of walking about 10 miles looking for objects from clues and grid references. Feet are covered in blisters. Got to sleep about 11. There are 4-man tents which have 2 or 3 people in hem. Two good blokes from Hastings share with me.
