In 1938 the chess club was meeting in Room F on Tuesday afternoons. R A Anker reached the semi-final where he was beaten by H G Bozeat who went on to win the tournament. Laughton's retained the Beaulah Cup. I was noted that in its fourteen year history the cup had never been won by Parry's.
