Jack Sydney Sheppard was educated at Boston Grammar School where he won the Parry Gold Medal in 1932. He went on to be a Crown Estate Mineral Agent[1]. He was awarded a C.B.E. in the 1974 New Honours[2]. In 1977 he was the Guest of Honour at The Old Bostonian Association Annual Dinner.

43) Indeed, things have come to such a pass that Mr J. S. Sheppard, the Crown Estate Mineral Agent, felt impelled to express his admiration for John Williams of RTZ for admitting "that they [RTZ] had just about finished looking into one particular Crown area and would then like to take out a prospecting licence! He [Mr Sheppard] could not feel aggrieved about such a minor misdemeanour for he took the view that if they found anything, then it was for the benefit of the community as a whole . . . ."
