Michael who lived in Tawney Street died in Pilgrim Hospital on 1st May after a short illness. He was 59.

In his youth he excelled in sport and as a scholar. He played for BGS in both cricket and soccer. He was an outstanding table tennis player, representing Boston and winning the Lincolnshire Junior Championship.

He went to Hull University and during his time there spent some time in studies at the Sorbonne and Frieburg University. He graduated with a first class honours degree in languages.

He started his career in teaching and then joined the civil service. He worked in the Department of Employment and held a number of senior managerial positions in the Greater Manchester area.

When he retired he came back to Boston to live. He carried out voluntary work for the Stump shop and hosted garden parties at his home to raise funds for the church. He also became treasurer of the Stump fellowship.
