Obituary
From the August 1998 issue of The Old Bostonian
Roy, of Willington Road, Kirton died this Summer in Pilgrim Hospital after a short illness. He was 76.
He was a staunch Kirtonian having been born and lived there all his life apart from six years with the RAF Mobile Photography Unit during the Second World War, serving in the UK, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany.
He was employed as an accountant with the former Boston District Council and later as chief accountant with Boston Borough Council.
He was a staunch supporter of the Royal British Legion and over the past 52 years gave an enormous amount of his time and energy working for the Legion in Kirton, Lincolnshire and adjacent counties.
He had a deep concern for the care of ex-servicemen whatever their need. He made pilgrimages to Germany and Holland (his brother Alan is buried in a war graves cemetery in Dordrecht). He was a Legion health and sick visitor.
He enjoyed bowling, was a Probus member, and freemason. He was a keen supporter of the OBA and was oft to he seen at functions, not least the annual dinners.
He leaves a wife, a son, a daughter and four grandchildren.
The funeral service was held in Kirton Parish Church followed by cremation at Boston.
